If a client won’t buy into your idea

Some times we hit a brick wall. We have a good solid idea, based on a sound rationale, and no matter how much we try, our client won’t buy into it. Maybe it’s too much of a risk or maybe they just have their own ideas.

A good way to get around this problem is to show your client two options; work up quick drafts of their idea and your idea. Then sit down with them and talk them both through. You may even discover that their idea does have more merit than yours – nobody is perfect. Remember, being a designer is all about being open to new possibilities. More often than not, your client will choose your idea and will be happy that you have taken the time to show them why your idea is better for their business.
